KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City chiefs traded linebacker Dee Ford at the San Francisco 49ers, according to reports Tuesday night.

Josina Anderson of ESPN announced that the 49ers were going to give Ford a contract of about $ 87.5 million over five years.

The reported trade comes a week after the chiefs have placed a

franchise label

on Ford. But after the leaders made that decision, the team did so with the intention of negotiating it.

The Chiefs eliminated Ford from Auburn in 2014. In five seasons in Kansas City, Ford has registered 103 tackles and 30.5 sacks. His best year was the 2018 season, when he recorded 55 tackles and 13 sacks.

In exchange for Ford, the Chiefs would receive a second round pick in 2020.

The transaction can not become official until the start of the new league year on Wednesday.
