DETROIT – A new front-end appearance for the SS and a new LT1 V-8 performance model add style and choice to the Camaro 2020 lineup, while a new 10-speed automatic transmission enriches models equipped with the V6 from 3.6 liters available engine.
The new front end of the Camaro SS is based on the distinctive design of the Camaro Shock show vehicle presented at SEMA last autumn. The SS now sports a bow-tie emblem repositioned in the upper grille and a body-color bar between the upper and lower grilles.
"Customers talked and we listened," said Steve Majoros, Director of Passenger Car and Crossover Marketing at Chevrolet. "The extremely positive reaction to Shock's stylized design has contributed to its transition from concept to production."
The new LT1 model combines the content and design of the Camaro LT (version 1LT) and the SS. It is equipped with the 455 horsepower (339 kW) LT1 engine, making it the most affordable choice for Camaro V-8 performance with a starting MSRP of $ 34,991 (destination included).
The Camaro LT1 is available in coupe and convertible models, with a standard six-speed manual transmission or an available 10-speed automatic transmission. Additional details include:
Exterior style LT associated with the ventilated hood of the SS.
LT1 tusk badges and black bow tie emblems.
SS-style 20-inch x 8.5-inch wheels at all four corners and all-season tires (compared to the SS's off-set wheels and summer sport tires).
Available technology package, including the Chevrolet2 infotainment system with 8-inch diagonal color touch screen and Bose premium audio system.
"The new Camaro LT1 is a great choice for those looking for a pure V-8 performance experience," said Majoros. "And at less than $ 35,000, it will be one of the most affordable V-8 models on the market."
New 10 speed automatic gearbox and more
A new 10-speed automatic transmission, recently available, is now paired with the 3.6-liter V6 engine on the Camaro LT models. It is based on the 10-speed design offered with the Camaro SS and ZL1 but adapted to the performance parameters of the V-6.
Additional updates for 2020 include a new exterior color and a broad range of features available across the range, giving customers more ways to customize their new Camaro:
Exterior color green rally.
Rear wing available on LS and LT (only on the RS package before).
Dark tinted rear lights available on LS and LT.
20-inch forged aluminum wheels available on LT, LT1 and SS models.
Red or orange brake calipers available on LT, LT1 and SS models.
Red seatbelts available on all models (previously only ZL1).
Red knee pads available on all models.
RECARO performance seats available on LT (previously only 1LE).
Steering wheel and gear selector trim in suede microfiber available on LT and SS models (previously only ZL1 and 1LE).
Alloy pedals available on all models (previously only ZL1).
Black bow tie insignia and Camaro damper insignia available on the LT model.
The leather interior Adrenaline Red and Ceramic White is now available on 2LT (previously only 3LT and 2SS).
3LT comes standard with the Turbo 2.0L engine and Convenience and Lighting Package (previously optional).
On sale early autumn
The Camaro 2020 lineup will go on sale earlier this fall and will be produced at the Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in General Motors, Michigan.
