Our tester, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 High Country, is part of the rollout of all new trucks by General Motors. This is a new platform, a new organization, new plants and increased capacity. The technological level has increased and there are even 15 different views of the camera on the high-end infotainment system available. On paper, these heavy duty vans are now much more competitive than Ford and Ram.

Two motors and two transmissions are available for heavy work. There's a brand new 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 that produces 445 horsepower for 910 lb-ft of torque. It is bolted to a 10-speed automatic transmission. There is also a 6.6-liter gasoline V8 with a "robust" 6-speed automatic transmission. It's 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque.
