Chicago Attorney General Kim Foxx was summoned Friday for his handling of the Jussie Smollett case, according to the Chicago Times.
Foxx, the Cook County attorney, will have to appear in court after the retired appeal judge, Sheila O. Brien, filed a petition last week for a lawsuit. Special Prosecutor investigates the Smollett case, in which an indictment of 16 counts "Actor was dropped last month.

O'Brien has asked Foxx, Magats and Smollett to produce original documents in the criminal case to assure the public "that they have not been tampered with or destroyed and will not be destroyed throughout this case. ", Reports Sun-Times.
The petition of a special prosecutor claimed that Foxx's handling of the case was "flawed".

O'Brien claims that Foxx, who informally declined because of his contacts with a relative of Smollett during the investigation, should have appointed a special prosecutor.
"Foxx's conflict in this case is indisputable," wrote O'Brien, "but Foxx misled the public into believing that the Smollett case was treated like any other lawsuit and without influence."

Smollett told the police that he had been attacked on January 29 around 2 am when he was returning home from a sandwich shop in Chicago. He added that two masked men shouted racial and anti-gay insults, poured him with bleach, beat him and tied him a rope around his neck. He claimed that they had shouted, "This is the country of MAGA" – a reference to the slogan of the "Put America Back" campaign of President Trump.
After an intense investigation, police said Smollett staged the whole incident to draw attention to his career.
