There was some interesting news that came out today regarding the Chicago Bears, the most important being their request to interview Indianapolis Colts defensive back coach Jonathan Gannon for their vacant defensive coordinator position. With the new rule allowing position coaches to leave for coordinator positions, even if they are still under contract, the request is only a formality.

- The bears also asked authorization interview George Edwards, senior defensive assistant for the Dallas Cowboys for their coordinator position. Prior to the 2020 season, the 54-year-old Edwards was the Vikings’ defensive coordinator from 2014 to 2019 and has coached in the NFL since 1998.

Desai was brought in to the Bears as a Marc Trestman staff member in 2013, and he was retained by John Fox and again by Matt Nagy. His coaching experience has been with linebackers, defensive backs, running backs and special teams.
