[ad_1]

Chicago fire wasted no time welcoming his new paramedic into the fray with an intense call during the Season 9 premiere on Wednesday. Also, is it just us or is it hot in hereā€¦ between Casey and Brett?

New recruit Gianna grew up in the same neighborhood as Cruz and has the kind of mind that makes Boden think she will fit in perfectly. Right away, Gianna’s nerves are put to the test, as she and Brett are called to an OD victim, whose brother points a gun at them and exclaims, “If he dies.” , tumors.” Gianna says Brett was cool as a cucumber during the incident, but Casey still checks her and offers to call Burgess to get a CPD update on the Armed Brother. After his brother’s death, Brett and Gianna both refuse to take the ambulance out of service.

Later, Brett comes home to find her door ajar, and who is she calling? I’ll give you an estimate. Casey searches for his place, but finds no one inside his apartment. Still, “I’m staying – on the couch,” Casey says. They spend the night playing Heads Up !, which allows Jesse Spencer to bring out a terrible false Australian accent. Then there is a marked pause, and she thanks him again for staying with her.

But Gianna may have gotten more than she bargained for when she wanted a house occupied: As she and Brett head to another call, the surviving brother drops his ambulance on the side of a bridge , and they crash into the sidewalk below.

Elsewhere in the episode:

Chicago Fire spoilers* Gianna wows the barracks with her delicious turkey, Swiss and pear sandwiches. (OK, that Is sounds good.) When Gallo smiles a little too long at Gianna, Cruz gives her a conversation.

* Stella is frustrated that the pandemic has blocked her Girls on Fire program, but she is not giving it up. “Do you know how proud I am of you?” Severide told him lovingly. Stella then gets a victory when Boden informs her that she has permission from superiors to resume the program outside with a small group. Boden is impressed, especially since his own requests to get more than one person into the reliever pen have been repeatedly denied. Then, after Stella rescues a trapped Severide in a dangerous fire, Boden suggests she take the lieutenant test in a few months so that there are more women of color in leadership roles at CFD.

* Molly’s Patio is opening soon, but no one knows, so Herrmann hatches a wacky PR plan: a treasure map poem leading to a coupon for free lifetime drinks. Ritter offers to help Mouch and Herrmann write the poem.

* Thanks to Brett, we find out that Foster is indeed in medical school and volunteering in a COVID department.
