Chicago policeman shot in Humboldt Park neighborhood

A Chicago police officer was shot dead in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

It arrived around 7:20 pm in the 2700 block of West Potomac Avenue, the police said.

The 34-year-old officer was shot in the back while executing a search warrant, police said.

The officer, who was part of the Grand Crossing District Tactical Unit, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where their condition would have been severe but stabilized.

The alleged gunman, a 19-year-old woman, was in custody.
