CHICAGO (WLS) – Two Chicago police officers were gunned down on Saturday night in the south of the city, CPD officials said.

Chicago Police said the shooting occurred at around 9:10 p.m. in the 6300 block of South Bell Avenue, and left officers in serious to critical condition.

An active scene was visible on South Bell Avenue and West 63rd Street in West Englewood.

Large numbers of Chicago police officers stood outside the University of Chicago Medical Center, where the injured were taken, around 10 p.m.
