CHICAGO (WLS) – Five people were injured in a shooting Wednesday in Chicago’s Fulton River district, just west of downtown. Now a new dashcam video shows the scary moments.

In the video, you can hear the volley of gunfire as the two cars run down the street, shooting at each other.

A woman walking down the street hears the gunshots and is seen hiding for safety.

Chicago Police said the shooting began shortly before 5 p.m. in the 800 block of North Milwaukee, near the intersection of Halsted, Milwaukee and Grand.

Police said witnesses told them they saw at least two cars chasing each other down the street, shooting at each other. Witnesses saw at least one car where the gunman had the gun through the window.

“I looked in the rearview mirror and I could see these guys swerve and come straight at us and I’m like that, we’re involved. We’re on the way now,” witness Steven Niewiedzial said.

Four innocent passers-by were shot dead in the incident, police said.

“The next thing you know is three cars come up next to us and go to the other side of traffic, pulling,” Niewiedzial said. “They were shooting the guy in the first car. They were shooting him. He had bullet holes in his car and he has two flat tires and he was just going away, you could see him scratch and go. And they were dragging the windows together. and the shots. “

One of the victims was a man who was shot in the leg while riding a Divvy bike near Kinzie and Milwaukee. A cell phone video shows a Chicago police officer putting pressure on his injury.

Across the street, a second injured person was also treated, while a couple traveling in a red sedan had their rear windshields pulled.

A man suspected of being the shooter was also shot dead.

Police said that currently no one is in custody. Zone Three detectives are investigating.
