SEVERN, Maryland (CNN) – A director of a Maryland Chick-Fil-A was quick to help when he found that a regular customer needed more than his cookie with the usual chicken and coffee.
Daryl Howard was taking his orders Thursday morning at Severn's restaurant when a 96-year-old veteran of the Second World War, known to employees as Mr. Lee, went on the register and said that he was not in the business. he had a puncture.
"He was shaking, almost crying saying that he was just coming to the store with three tires because one was bad," CNN Rudy Somoza, another manager, told CNN.
Lee was able to park but had no one to help him change his tire.
"As soon as he finished his sentence, Daryl told me that he needed to help this gentleman now," Somoza said. "So, Daryl went into action without hesitation."
It took Howard about 15 minutes to change the tire. He did not know that Somoza had taken pictures before.
Somoza said that he had been working with Howard for about five years.
"His gesture of kindness was magnificent, Daryl has always been a great help to people in need and deserves this recognition," said Somoza.
Somoza said Lee was back on Friday and was very grateful.
