Chiefs injury updates after preseason week 2 against the Cardinals

The Kansas City Chiefs ended their Week 2 preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals with their second pre-season win. They also managed to end the game with just a few injuries.

A few players left the match with injuries but were not officially announced by the team during the match. Clyde Edwards-Helaire left the game quite early with what Andy Reid called a “slight” ankle sprain. He remained on the sidelines, which also suggests the injury is of a minor nature and not the dreaded high ankle sprain. Rashad Fenton left the game with what Reid called a “twisted” hamstring.

Darrel Williams was the only player to leave the game with an official team announcement. He was taken out of the game to be assessed for a concussion. While the veteran running back has never returned to the game, the team have never formally ruled him out, suggesting he has cleared the NFL concussion protocol.

With Williams on the sidelines, the team got an in-depth look at Jerick McKinnon, Darwin Thompson and Derrick Gore.

The one big injury question everyone had at the start of the game was about Tyreek Hill. The veteran receiver was held back with a hamstring injury. He was also dressed on the sidelines and apparently tested pre-game hamstrings, which would suggest that this is something minor in nature.

Overall, the injury news is worse than last week, but it doesn’t look like any of these injuries will keep players from playing for very long.
