Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has a fractured bone in his hand, ruling him out for the next four to six weeks, according to NFL Network Ian Rapoport.
#Chefs OL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif recently broke a bone in his hand in training and is out for 4 to 6 weeks, according to sources. The good doctor, who was the 2020 @SInow Sportsman of the Year for his work on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, has a chance to play in week 1.

Rapoport adds that Duvernay-Tardif, 30, still has a chance to play in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns on September 12. Duvernay-Tardif missed his first practice at training camp on August 6, and was seen working sideways in the coach’s tent with a substantial wrap on his right hand in recent practices.
Before the injury, Duvernay-Tardif worked as a second-team right guard behind rookie Trey Smith. The veteran started 57 regular season games for the Chiefs from 2015 to 2019 before retiring from the 2020 season to fight COVID-19 on the front line at a long-term care facility in Montreal.
Rapoport later noted that the offensive lineman’s injury does not require surgery, further reinforcing the fact that he could be available to the Chiefs as a deep inside offensive line at the start of the 2021 season.
