Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was knocked out of the AFC Division playoff game on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns after being struck in the head in the third quarter of Kansas City’s 22-17 win.

Mahomes looked giddy and had to be helped following a tackle from Cleveland linebacker Mack Wilson on a third run. Mahomes slowly left the field with the help of two coaches and was replaced by backup quarterback Chad Henne with the Chiefs leading 19-10.

No penalty was imposed on the game.

Mahomes, 25, was taken to the medical tent and then thrown off the pitch in the locker room, where he was assessed for a concussion and ultimately sent off.

He had suffered a toe injury suffered earlier in the game.

Henne finished the run that led to a basket to put Kansas City in the lead 22-10.

“HenneThingIsPossible,” Mahomes tweeted after the Chiefs hung on for the win.

Another star quarterback Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens suffered a concussion in their playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.

Mahomes signed a record 10-year contract worth $ 503 million in July.
