US TV will have its first trans superhero, as announced in San Diego's famous Comic Con, with the landing of transgender actress Nicole Maines in the cast Supergirl.
The scoop was shot during a panel of the series. Maines is also an activist, participating in the HBO documentary The Trans List and is also the subject of the book Becoming Nicole, written by Amy Elis Nutt.
In this fourth season of Supergirl, Maines har Nia Nal, a free-based character in Nura Nal (also known as Dream Girl), which is part of the DC universe.
According to a press release, Nia is "a beneficent trans girl who has the urge to protect others."
