DE GONZALO ÁLVAREZ
This Thursday, the leaders of the teams that make up the National Association of Professional Football (ANFP) will determine who will badume the presidency of the club council and will end the cycle that has leads Arturo Salah from January 2016.
The entity that incorporates and presides over the Chile Football Federation is the result of complex years after the term exercised by Sergio Jadue between 2011 and 2015, after being accused by the US Justice for corruption at the door of FIFA.
To find out the proposals of the three candidates, ADN Sports submitted an investigation to Jorge Uauy, Sebastián Moreno and Harold Mayne-Nicholls who presented their proposals for seven key questions for the four years that his mandate.
1) Should Reinaldo Rueda remain in the national team?
Uauy: I've been asked a lot and, c. As I have already told the media, I do not know about the Rueda project in its entirety. Therefore, at the beginning of my period, this will undoubtedly be one of the first meetings that I will have. After that and after having met Reinaldo, on a professional and human level, the future of the technical direction of the national team will be decided. Any answer today is in a hurry. I believe in the process but also in the results. Like it or not.
Moreno: We are engaged in development with Reinaldo Rueda and his technical staff. In the medium term, we have Copa America. We must revalidate two championships that we won in previous editions. And the main goal is to qualify for the Qatar World Cup. Reinaldo and his technical staff are both guaranteed to perform the work for which he was hired.
Mayne-Nicholls: I am not in favor of an interruption of technical processes. Reinaldo Rueda has already done a fairly thorough badessment of all our players available for the national team and I do not think it would be a good idea to lose this year of work.
2) What project do you have for the Juan Pinto Durán complex? Uauy: I understand that a project is underway and that we will have to examine it in detail. Until the minute we have not been informed. However, I have the absolute conviction that we need a sports complex of the highest level, in every sense of the word, for the national team, but we will pay attention to the necessary resources. In the absence of resources, we will not mortgage the sustainability of the ANFP.
Moreno: We plan to create a top-level venue where men's football can coexist with all of its lower national teams, with women's football, the adult team and the various selections. young women, beach soccer and futsal. We consider Pinto Durán as a place where our football develops in an integral way.
Mayne-Nicholls: The Chilean football teams with everything they gave the country need a new complex, but before seeing how that works, do a feasibility study on the economic and future sustainability of the complex before deciding whether it is complete or not.
3) Do you intend to keep the tournament long or return to a short tournament?
Uauy: There is enough evidence on all types of tournaments to perform the corresponding badyzes on what is best for Chilean football from a sporting and economic point of view. The type of tournament we will have in the future will depend on the resolution of the Presidents' Council and what will be better for the clubs.
Moreno: What is necessary for the development of football, it is its stability in the championship system. We have just spent a year with this championship system, which has been approved by the Presidents' Council. We are certainly in favor of maintaining this system in time, stability is something fundamental and we are constantly evaluating it with the Presidents' Council.
Mayne-Nicholls: The type of tournaments is one thing that determines and determines the council of presidents, it does not decide or determine the repertoire. Everyone knows that I've always loved long tournaments, but if the Presidents' Council decides otherwise, we'll work with great enthusiasm.
4) How do you plan to promote the Second Professional Division?
Uauy: We have a different and innovative proposal that refers to an increase in youth participation in this division, where it will be preferred that the majority of young people compete in the second. It is also possible to create subsidiaries of Primera A and Primera B teams as is the case in the Spanish league.
Moreno: It is impossible for the second division to generate no income. You must first worry about generating income for the clubs that make it up. In other countries, it is an important pool for both clubs and, eventually, for national teams. In addition, clubs must have new tools that allow them to improve their skills and generate different revenues that will enable them to survive in the medium and long term.
Mayne-Nicholls: An in-depth review is required, which can also bring change. deep structural This does not seem to be a tournament in which there is so much, but so few teams. It is also necessary to research and promote all the benefits of participation in the ANFP, which requires active participation in certain positions, such as transfer financing and expenses related to the development of a twinning .
5) What project does it have for youth football, in order to increase the percentage of players participating in minor selections that reach adulthood?
Uauy: having better clubs goes hand-in-hand with more participation and better training of youth So, like a virtuous circle, better clubs and more training, we will have more competitive youth teams, which will have an impact on the development of a more powerful adult team. What is clear is that the under 20 rule does not contribute to the empowerment of young people, because at age 21, they are left without competition.
Moreno: We must understand that clubs are the nucleus that generates the development of football. Youth football clubs are born selection players. As established in our strategic plan, it is necessary to train players with the characteristics of selection player from an early age, from 15 years and over. It is our duty to create international frictions with the characteristics of an actor of choice and, to this extent, as a group is acquired from an early age, as is done in other countries that work in this way, we will be able to consolidate an important group which, in a large percentage, is added to a replacement, and then form a solid group in the absolute national teams of the future.
Mayne-Nicholls: That technicians from these divisions travel to the 32 clubs or 42 clubs of the ANFP, see the field train all the children and then make an badessment and start inviting players. This trip and this vision of training must last at least a week and, in the meantime, each month, they play one or two games of international character for the technician to draw his conclusions. And before the championships join three weeks or a month, and there to do a training with those that the technical body has left chosen. I think that a methodological change is imposed on Chilean football as soon as possible.
6) How do you plan to promote women's football?
Uauy: We must take the path of improving female football affiliates of our clubs, so that the women's football league is a reality and that it has all its importance.
Moreno: He already has a course. We have made great progress since 2016 until this date. We have developed a strategic plan for the development of women's football, both at national team and club level. We understand that the spearhead of its development is our adult national team and we will continue to promote women's football at the national level by creating sub-division 15. As far as the league is concerned, we have already prepared in both recent years, a considerable investment. greater for transfers and accommodation of different players that make up the competition, in different clubs.
Mayne-Nicholls: The great women's football project for us is to organize the Adult World Cup in Chile in 2027. We would be eight years old to work and promote all women's football. It would be an event of great importance for the country and an excellent example.
7) Will it change or not to improve discipline in the national team?
Uauy: Discipline is not acceptable. For most children of our country, footballers are examples in their lives, they are the object of admiration. We hope to establish, in agreement with the technical bodies, minimum compliance measures in this respect.
Moreno: This is a subject that, of course, corresponds to the coaching staff and the coach, since he is the leader of the discipline in the locker room. The national coach has to do that, and we respect his decisions.
Mayne-Nicholls: For me, discipline is not about rules, not about licensing, it's not about obligations. Discipline is a matter of commitment and every player who is part of one of our selections must understand that there is a larger commitment, namely the 39, commitment to the whole country. And this commitment is to maintain discipline. Those who do not understand will unfortunately not be able to join the Chilean team.
