This Tuesday started the white march of line 3 of the Santiago metro, which will connect the towns of Quilicura and La Reina in 18 stations.
The final goal of the walk is to test all the features of the line before entering the service to ensure the reliability of people who will work in the stations. According to the authorities, the works represent an advance of 97%.
In this activity, President Sebastián Piñera and Minister of Transport Gloria Hutt inspected the works of this new line 3 which will be 22 kilometers long and will run through the municipalities of Quilicura, Conchalí, Independencia, Santiago , Ñuñoa and La Reina.
Piñera stated that "when we inaugurate a new metro line, it is not just an extension of our transportation system, that (…) It means dignity for Chileans, better quality of life, more of free time ".
The President recalled the new lines for the future and extensions of existing lines. "When this network is deployed, half of Santiago's residents will be able to walk from their homes at the subway station and the train station to any part of the city, in the same way they go back to their place."
