The awards expand their categories to include other means of art exhibition.
The new Star Wars Fan Awards 2018 have just been announced and it seems that within Disney they are restructuring things to recover the affection of his followers.
These awards, which already existed 2002 but with another name; will focus this year on the recognition of fans who manage to create a tribute content beyond a mere audio-visual material.
With the generation of three general categories. Which are in turn divided into several areas:
- Long videos (up to 5 minutes) and short films (up to 15 seconds): best animation, best stop motion, best comedy, best choreography, best visual effects, public choice, filmmaker selection, fandom spirit
- Photos: Best Picture Inspired by a Scene, Best Family Portrait, Best Retro Photo, Best Original Concept, Funny, Best Pet Photo, Best Presentation of Star Wars, Best Presentation, Public Choice
- Visual Arts: Best Digital Art, Best Art of the Year Poster, Best Custom Costume, Best 2D / Traditional Art, Best 3D Art / Physics, Best Custom Character, Best Custom Diorama, Best of Display, Public Choice

The winners will be announced at The Star Wars Show via YouTube; on a date not yet announced.
