American cartoonist Stephen Ditko, co-creator of Spider-Man and other superheroes, died at the age of 90, according to what was known Saturday.

Born in 1927 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Ditko worked alongside Stan Lee, who later became Marvel's CEO. It is he who invented the famous red and blue Spider-Man suit.
"Today, the Marvel family mourns the loss of Steve Ditko, Steve has transformed the industry and the Marvel universe, and his legacy will never be forgotten." Says Marvel's president Dan Buckley Entertainment in a statement.
