The Chinese Air Force has sent more planes to Taiwan’s air defense zone, the Taiwanese military said on Saturday, a day after the largest incursion ever into the area.
China sent 20 planes, followed by a second wave hours later, to Taiwan. This means that nearly 80 planes, including fighter jets and bombers, have now moved to the democratically ruled country in the past two days.

Beijing regards Taiwan as a separatist province and claims it is part of its own territory. The two countries separated in 1949, and China increased pressure on the autonomous nation, while opposing its involvement in international organizations such as the United Nations.
The regime has sent planes to Taiwan almost daily in recent years, but this has intensified dramatically in recent days.
The new forays come a day after the communist giant marked the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in 1949 by sending two waves of planes towards Taiwan.

“China has engaged in military aggression without cause, undermining regional peace,” Taiwanese Prime Minister Su Tseng-chang said on Saturday, according to Reuters.
Chinese planes never violated Taiwan’s territory, but the Taiwanese military sent fighter jets in response to the assault. Taiwan has also followed the Chinese plane on its air defense systems, the island’s defense ministry said in a statement.

China had flown 24 jets to Taiwan last week after announcing it would seek membership in a Pacific trade group that China has also asked to join.
