The world's second-largest economy grew 6.2% from a year ago.

That's down 6.4% in the previous quarter, according to government data.

President Trump has increased tariffs on Chinese imports in order to pressure Beijing for its technological development tactics and tweeted about the results.

Now, economists say that the slowdown could extend until next year.

Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed last month to resume negotiations.

Both sides still face the same number of disputes that led to the break-up of negotiations in May.
