Miami Heat legend Chris Bosh recently opened up about what his role might have looked like if he was still playing today.
The former All-Star was linked with newcomer Carmelo Anthony’s position on the Los Angeles Lakers.
“I was shooting like four or five threes per game in my last year in the league,” Bosh told Anthony Chiang of Miami Herald. “I was really looking forward to perfecting this profession and this role and improving myself in this area. I just did not have the opportunity to do so. But, yeah, I saw myself playing for a while. Especially now, a bit like you see with the opportunity that [Carmelo Anthony] going to have with the Lakers, just be that three-point shooter to get out of the way and play defense, stay strong and just be who you are to help the team and fill that gap.
Bosh will be officially inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday. Bosh and Anthony were both lottery picks in the 2003 NBA Draft.
The veteran’s career in the NBA was unfortunately cut short due to blood clots. He last played in 2016 with the Heat.
Although Bosh’s league career ended prematurely, he still had a phenomenal track record. Most notably, he helped the Heat win back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.
Additionally, the 37-year-old was on the All-Star team 11 times during his tenure with the association. He holds career averages of 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
Bosh was also an important member of the Toronto Raptors, where he played from 2003 to 2010. The 6-foot-11 superstar has averaged over 20 points per game for the Raptors in seven seasons.
