Chris Harris Jr., potential business partners for the Broncos

After John Elway announced to the media that he would not work on an agreement on Chris Harris Jr. prior to this weekend's draft, Harris issued an ultimatum to Elway and the Broncos.

Although the fan in hope hopes the terms can be achieved between the two, the fanalyst thinks that this is highly unlikely. Christopher Hart and I joined Adam Malnati and Ian St. Clair on the MHR Radio podcast (iTunes, Spotify and Stitcher) to assimilate Harris news and try to uncover what all this means.

So where could the Broncos exchange Harris? Ideally, this is not an AFC team. Given that Strap is over 30 years old, it will probably take a team looking to fight in 2019 or a GM who hopes to stay out of the line of fire.

My short list:

The Cardinals currently have Patrick Peterson locking up a place in their high school (for how long it is supposed to be) but has just released Robert Alford for the off season. It's not great. Then, when you stop to think that Vance Joseph is performing the kind of scheme that highlights Harris's skills and familiarizes him with that, that makes a lot of sense.

What complicates things is the rest of the list. Unless Kyler Murray proves it's a phenomenon like Robert Griffin III or Andrew Luck was in their early years at the helm, they were not about to argue. In appearance, it does not seem that general manager Steve Keim would be interested in an exchange for an older corner. At least until you consider the fact that Arizona has signed Terrell Suggs (37 in October), Alford (31 in November) and traded against Marcus Gilbert (31) in 2019. Peterson's n & 39 is not a spring chicken and Larry Fitzgerald has a retirement leg. Combine that with Steve Keim's fragile job security, and a trade starts to make sense.

There are serious mathematical difficulties to resolve before this agreement can be reached. Since Donovan Smith signed a heavy extension, the Bucs currently have less than $ 2 million under the cap. One of the solutions would be to have Jason Licht pass defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, which would release 13 million dollars of space.

If that were to happen, a Harris would give Bruce Arians and Todd Bowles a decisive corner for the new defense that badly needs it. The age of Harris would not be as big a problem for a team that hopes to fight for the future, that the future is cursed.

The Chicago Bears are another competitor who wants to win now and lacks the capital required to radically improve their alignment. While Fangio was coming to Denver, Matt Nagy appealed to Chuck Pagano to lead the defense. This change will bring more responsibilities from man to man and blitz. For Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara, it will not be a radical change, as many of the shells that Fangio uses essentially define the limits, but it will be a change for the new nickel corner that is trying to replace Bryce Callahan.

If Elway and the Broncos are ready to make their choice in 2020, they could find a willing business partner.

As I already mentioned, Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia are facing a very hot position. If the Lions disappoint by the door, I would not be surprised to see both on the shooting line before the end of 2019. Harris could push Jalen Tabor out of the starting lineup and become a full-fledged candidate for Darius Slay. One thing that could cool this possibility is the new Detroit corner, Justin Coleman. He is the focus of concern and has overlapping skills with Strap.

This is another team that might surprise you. During the entire Ted Thompson era, Titletown was more conservative than your great-uncle Leonard. Then you watch their freelance splash under General Manager Brian Gutekunst. That's logical: they have a Super Bowl window that closes when Aaron Rodgers (35) hangs up.

New coach Matt LaFleur has retained his former defensive boss, Mike Pettine, who is managing the kind of stratagem that could maximize Harris's talents. Green Bay apparently has every corner he could need with his recent preliminary investment in Joe Jackson, Jaire Alexander and Kevin King. But Jackson was only "OK" last year and Harris is a Pro Bowl talent.
