Chris Jericho is back on the WWE Network.
Jericho, who is one of the driving forces behind All Elite Wrestling, will be Steve Austin’s guest Broken skull sessions on the network after the second night of WrestleMania 37 on Sunday.
“Having someone from there on a WWE show, especially Chris Jericho’s caliber, is really cool,” Austin says. “Chris spent almost 20 years in WWE. When you talk about the best performances in company history, Chris Jericho’s name is going to pop up. “
It’s a coup for the WWE Network to feature Jericho. He remains one of the industry’s most charismatic stars and will draw attention to the network, which has just moved to Peacock. Combining it with Austin is watching a date, especially right after two nights have ended. WrestleMania.
Of course, the immediate question is how did this happen?
“I was drinking a beer one night after my Broken skull sessions The interview with The Undertaker was broadcast, and out of the blue, Chris Jericho reached out and said, “Man, that was a great interview,” says Austin. “I threw him a few emojis, one from a beer mug and one from an eagle, then he called me right away.”
“We have to talk. I’ve always respected the hell of his career, and I’m glad they’re here – it gives pro wrestling guys and girls more places to work. I said, ‘I would love to have you on the show. And he said he would love to do it, so I checked with Vince [McMahon] about that.”
Austin has made a career out of cutting edge content, and this session of Broken skull sessions certainly fits this description. Since the interview aired on a WWE-owned platform, Austin has asked if McMahon is reluctant to give Jericho his approval to appear on the show.
“I texted Vince and told him we had this badass idea of Jericho coming on the show,” Austin says. “Vince says, ‘That’s cool. Go ahead.’ But me and Vince don’t always do well with phones and texts and all that stuff, so I texted once again, ‘Are you sure it’s OK to have Chris Jericho in the room. series? Vince gave me a thumbs up and Chris came out to do the show.
Jericho ranks among the most important personalities in WWE, working with other legends like Austin, The Rock and The Undertaker, and having made an impact on the current roster with his most recent run with the company. It also plays an essential role in WrestleMania history, and his match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XIX is one of the largest in the history of the historical event.
Illustrated sports confirmed that AEW President Tony Khan has also given Jericho his approval, which is not surprising given the respect and trust he has in Austin and Jericho. Still, it’s rare to see an active talent from a different promotion featured on WWE lineup. Austin added that this interview was a priority because he needed to break down and analyze the legendary – and still active – work of Jericho.
“Jericho is one of the most influential wrestlers over the past 30 years and he’s still going strong,” says Austin. “The guy survived in every territory he went to. Chris has always been able to reinvent himself and do something new and fresh.
“He’s a worker and a student of the game. Think about all the sacred moments he’s had in his games, or how he can light up a spot at the microphone. Chris is one of the greatest personalities in the world, that’s the real deal.
Besides being one of the most compelling interviews in wrestling history, Austin takes great pride in becoming an exceptional interviewer. He puts a tremendous amount of preparation into his podcasts, and his comfort level and fluent conversational skills were also visible on his Straight Steve Austin television show, which has just completed its second season on the US network. Austin shared that no topics would be off limits with Jericho, and he looks forward to keeping everyone on his toes from viewers to WWE executives.
“We go into everything,” Austin says. “Jericho is one of the greatest of all time, and it’s going to be cool to have someone from AEW on a WWE show. To sum up, I’m glad people are watching this show. “
