Chris Olave demonstrates versatility in Buckeyes' victory on the road

BLOOMINGTON, IND. – Chris Olave, receiver at Ohio State, is proud of his versatility.

The sophomore gained this reputation last year by blocking a punt and scoring two touchdowns against Michigan.

He again showed more than one of his tools Saturday at Memorial Stadium, while he was running on a clear road to open for a 37-yard touchdown and blocked a safety kick for the security, all within 90 seconds at the stopwatch.

Did these two games set the final score of 51-10? Probably not. They also have not decided on the Buckeyes' win, but it's good that Ryan Day and the Ohio State Staff have fun appointing a playmaker like Olave on the pitch.

"I'm just doing what's best for the team," Olave said. "We have three elderly people capable of [making plays]and Garrett Wilson, Jaylen Harris, a room full of receivers that may be this guy. We are just trying to do the best for the team and, hopefully, win. "

Until now, Olave has been a leader for Buckeyes receivers. His 70 yards at the front led the team and he is developing good chemistry with quarterback Justin Fields.

Even though Fields missed Olave on another deep ball that would have allowed him to play his first career game with 100 yards, the duo is about to haunt Big Ten's second runner-up for the next two seasons. For Day and the Buckeyes, the Oval game is not the only impressive thing.

"His production has been really good," said Day. "Some guys have very good body language. He has a good body language. "

If the MVPs had been distributed for the midday send in September, Olave might have been nominated. Like always, Lettermen Row a few Buckeye Leaves to hand out for Ohio State and his dominant victory, and Olave certainly won one.

Offense

RB J.K. Dobbins

J.K. Dobbins loves Indiana's Memorial Stadium. Memorial Stadium, site of his college football debut, hosted two of Dobbins' most impressive performances. His 193 rushing yards, 14 yards and two total touchdowns showed the rest of the Big Ten that he was much better than his game last season – and that he was just getting started. In his last two games, Dobbins has had 334 rushing yards and four touchdowns in total. If the Buckeyes can get this Dobbins production during the Big Ten season, they will have a place in Indianapolis in December.

Defense

CB Damon Arnette

Words revisited about Damon Arnette last season. Arnette had been the target of the state of Ohio's defensive frustration last year and now he is proving that many people are wrong. Arnette was everywhere for the defense of the state of Ohio Saturday. Two apparatus. Two passes in two. An interception, he returned 96 yards – the fifth longest interception return from the Ohio State's history – for a touchdown. His big day was a huge step forward in the burial process of last season and his departure. Arnette seems to have a lot of confidence. With Jeff Okudah on the other side of the pitch, where are the opposing quarterbacks throwing?

Special Teams

WR Chris Olave

Olave made some impressive games in attack, including a touchdown and a clever footwork in touch for another take. But Olave continues to make his weapons in the special teams. In the second quarter, Olave had free access to kicker Indiana, extended and blocked his second career kickoff. The ball sprang from the back of the goal area to give the Buckeyes a safety net. Security arrived less than 90 seconds after Olave's touchdown. This may be the best reception option for Ohio State, but it's also a weapon for special teams.
