Chris Sale dominates start of rehab with Portland Sea Dogs

A sold-out crowd in Portland was treated to a vintage performance by Chris Sale on Tuesday night.

The Boston Red Sox ace took the mound for a rehab start with the Portland Sea Dogs Double-A and dominated. In 3 2/3 innings of scoreless work, Sale struck out six Harrisburg Senators hitters, walked one, and allowed no hits. He finished with 49 throws, 34 for catches.

The sale peaked at 98 mph with his fastball and added his usual dirty slider to the mix. His secondary throws have shown significant improvement since his first start of rehabilitation with the FCL Red Sox.

All in all, another incredibly encouraging day for the southpaw upon his return from Tommy John surgery.

As to when Sale will finally return to the big club, that remains to be seen. If the start of Tuesday was any indication, it could be as soon as possible.
