“I really do, somehow or other, think I’m a better person now.”
Last September, Chrissy Teigen lost her baby after weeks of pregnancy complications that caused her to be hospitalized.
Since then, she has been very open on her healing journey. From giving up alcohol to admitting her biggest regrets about the pregnancy loss, she has shared all the ups and downs – and touched many people with similar experiences along the way.
Today, the 35-year-old opened up more to an episode of The Ellen Show.
“I go through my closet, and there are maternity clothes, things that I bought for my eighth and ninth month,” she said. “So it’s just hard because he would be born this week, so you look at these things, and you have these constant reminders.”
But “being Thai and growing up in a house very open to loss” helped her realize “it can be a beautiful thing.”
“It was a really transformative thing for me and in a way it really saved me. I don’t think I would have discovered therapy, then sobriety, and this way to feel good about myself and feel like a new person, ”she explained.
“You think of all the people walking through it in silence, and you get really sad for them. Ours was so public, so many people were so supportive. You really gain this incredible amount of empathy. And I really, from. somehow i think i’m a better person now, and i just have the best support system ever.
The cookbook author also loves the way her two young children, whom she shares with her husband John Legend, talk about Jack.
“We’ll go to the beach or something, and they’ll say, ‘Is baby Jack with us right now? Do you think he’s in the clouds? ‘ It’s so beautiful and so sweet, ”she concluded.
