Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey left Thursday night’s game with a hamstring injury, and the team is unsure if he will miss any extra time.

Carolina coach Matt Rhule said after the game that McCaffrey will undergo further testing.

“Christian tensed his hamstrings. I don’t know the gravity yet, ”Rhule said. “The minute it happened, they were like ‘He’s out for the game.’ I just saw him, he’s moving, but we’ll have an MRI or something to see how serious is.

Rhule indicated that if McCaffrey is running out of time, it could affect the Panthers’ passing game more than their running game.

“Christian can sort of do it all. I think the most important thing with him is that they have to take him into account in every passing route, ”said Rhule. “Christian is amazing in his ability to win one-on-one.”

McCaffrey signed a four-year, $ 64 million contract extension with the Panthers last year, but only played three games last season with ankle and shoulder injuries. Now, another injury worries the Panthers about McCaffrey’s missing time.
