You can now try this feature in the Chrome Canary Experimental Browser by activating a (–enable-extension-activity-logging) flag and visiting the chrome: // extensions page. You may have to wait a while before you can try this in a more reliable version of Chrome, though. We do not know when this will reach a beta version, let alone the polite version. However, if this continues with the finished versions, this could help both researchers and curious users to identify malicious extensions – not to mention discourage those who would try to insert hostile code into your browser.
