After stabbing his colleague at a California university campus and spending two days on the run, a staff member at California State University Fullerton was arrested for murder.

Steven Shek Keung Chan, 57, of Hacienda Heights, was stabbed to death in the school parking lot on Monday, August 19th. He was repeatedly stabbed and, although police officers who arrived in the first place took action for soon to be declared dead, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

Chuyen Vo, 51, was arrested at his home in Huntington Beach on Wednesday night, said Fullerton Police Chief Robert Dunn at a news conference.

Dunn said that Vo and Chan were colleagues and that the police could not talk more about the nature of their relationship. He said that a motive will be studied.

Ellen Treanor, the school's vice-president, told KTLA that the victim and the suspect were working in the same division, but that it was a big division, so it's likely that they did not even know each other.

"Of all the people I spoke to in this division, there did not seem to be any concern that anyone could ever hurt Steve," she said. "Not a single person said that there were problems."

The authorities believe that Vo was targeted by Chan and that he had brought an explosive device and tools for an abduction to the scene.

"During the investigation, a backpack, which the suspect allegedly left behind, was under the victim's vehicle," police said. "In the backpack, FPD investigators found an incendiary device, as well as many objects consistent with an attempted abduction or conspiracy, including ties, wigs, and other disguise materials, as well as a knife (which was not used in the murder). ). "

Dunn told the bail that he thought Vo was working alone.

While Chan had retired from his previous position at California State University Fullerton as a director in 2017, he was still working at the School of International Student Affairs Bureau as a consultant, reports Fox. 5 in San Diego.

Vo is detained without bail. It is unclear if he has a lawyer who can speak on his behalf at the moment.
