Baseball is America’s hobby, but soccer is king in the country right now.

Ciara understood the mission at the Met Gala on Monday night, which was themed “In America: A Fashion Lexicon.”

The singer showed up to the New York prom in a lime green sequined gown, inspired by her husband, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Ciara was sporting her jersey number (No.3) – and Super Bowl XLVIII ring, when Seattle beat Denver 43-8 in February 2014.

“My husband’s Seahawks jersey, transformed into a dress + his Super Bowl XLVIII ring = EVERYTHING!” Ciara wrote in a post on Instagram, alongside a collage of red carpet photos at the Met.

Wilson, who was not at the annual gala, commented, “My queen. My everything. ”The QB star is gearing up for Week 2, when Seattle plays host to Tennessee looking for a 2-0 start after beating Indianapolis in their opener on Sunday.

Ciara’s custom dress was designed by Peter Dundas and was also inspired by Geoffrey Beene’s jersey dress, a sequined pattern that mimicked a Minnesota Vikings jersey in the 1960s.

Her look featured side cutouts, exaggerated shoulders and an open back. She accessorized with a dazzling football clutch and wore her long blonde-brown hair in a voluminous ponytail. Ciara’s hairstylist César DeLeön Ramîrez (also known as cesar4styles on Instagram) used products from Paul Mitchell and The Wild Form.

Dundas also dressed Ciara in a bespoke cutout dress at the 2019 Met Gala. The emerald and embellished design included matching gloves, belt and choker, and a feathered train.

Ciara has been in the Big Apple to attend other events before the Met Gala including the MTV VMAs in Brooklyn, where she presented Normani’s sultry performance. The mother-of-three was stunned in a black lace dress during the awards ceremony.
