Cincinnati Reds play-by-play announcer Thom Brennaman has been suspended by the organization after uttering a homophobic slur on a live microphone.
The incident happened between innings in the Reds’ first double game opener against the Royals in Kansas City on Wednesday.

The sports broadcasting veteran apologized in the second match of the double title, after the clip went viral.
“I am proud of myself, I consider myself a man of faith,” he said. “I don’t know if I’m going to put that helmet back on, I don’t know if it’s going to be for the Reds. I don’t know if it’s going to be for my bosses at Fox,” he added later.
“I want to apologize for the people who sign my paycheck, for the Reds, for Fox Sports Ohio, for the people I work with. To anyone I have offended here tonight, I can’t start telling you how sorry I am I am, ”Brennaman continued.
“It’s not who I am and never have been, and I would like to think that maybe I could have some people who can support this. I am very, very sorry and I beg your pardon,” the 56-year-old concluded.
It was then removed from the show.
Brennaman was hired by Fox Sports Ohio in 2006.
