Jeff LaBar, best known as the guitarist for the glam metal band Cinderella, has passed away. Her son Sebastian confirmed the news on Wednesday via a social media post. He was 58 years old. The cause of death has not been revealed.

LaBar teamed up with Cinderella in 1985, after founding guitarist Michael Schermick left. He joined the group from Philadelphia while they signed to Mercury / Polygram and remained with the group until 2017. In 1986 they released their first album, Night songs. The groundbreaking LP single “Nobody’s Fool” reached number 13 and the album reached number 3 on the Billboard 200. They then toured with Poison, David Lee Roth and Bon Jovi.
Their second album, 1988’s Long cold winter, contained their biggest hit, “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone).” The Power Ballad reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. The LP tipped the scales at frontman Tom Keifer’s penchant for blues rock, which continued to scent their last two albums, from the 1990s. Tear station and the years 1994 Still climbing. In between, Keifer lost his voice due to vocal cord issues. Cinderella took a hiatus in 1995.
A year later, they return for a tour and a compilation of the greatest hits. They continued to tour in the early 2000s and in 2006 they celebrated the 20th anniversary of their debut album, alongside Poison. Keifer’s vocal cord problems derailed another tour scheduled for 2008, but they hit the road again a few years later, which included a 25th anniversary tour in 2011 and a rock cruise in 2013. In 2017, after years of inaction, Keifer announced that Cinderella would not be reuniting.
LaBar also worked on side projects, including one with his Cinderella bandmate Eric Brittingham called Naked Beggars, though he split from the group in 200.7. LaBar released their first solo album, One for the road, in 2014. He played all instruments except drums on the LP.
“Heavy hearts can’t begin to describe the feeling of losing our brother Jeff. The bond between us over decades of music making and touring the world is something we share in a unique way as a band,” Cinderella group members Keifer, Brittingham and Fred Coury said in a statement. “These memories with Jeff will be forever alive in our hearts. It is unimaginable that one of our group brothers has left us. We extend our sincere condolences to his wife Debinique, his son Sebastian, his family and his friends.
“Jeff’s memory and music will be with us forever. All of us… the group, family and management appreciate the immense outpouring of love. Rest in peace Jeff. “
