City of OKC issues ‘voluntary’ boil water advisory for some residents

The city of Oklahoma City said it is recommending some residents voluntarily boil their water if they had cut service this week.

The recommendation given to the city came from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

The city said the voluntary boil water advisory will expire in 72 hours unless the city decides to end it before the end of the three-day period.

If you’ve lost water due to winter conditions this week, DEQ recommends boiling water for a minute, then allowing it to cool to room temperature. Anyone with skin sores or other conditions should avoid bathing in water unless they first see a doctor.

Residents who have reported water discoloration on return from service are asked to run tap water until it becomes clear again.
