City of Wichita provides water update after notice is lifted

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The city of Wichita is hosting a briefing on Saturday morning on repairs to water pipes after the boil water advisory was lifted in Wichita.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) withdrew the advisory regarding Wichita’s public water system early Saturday morning. Some surrounding communities remain under this notice for the time being.

KDHE and the City recommend that, as a safety measure, all consumers turn on their water by turning on a tap for 10 to 15 minutes.

The advisory was issued earlier this week due to a loss of pressure in the distribution system, which could lead to loss of chlorine residues and bacterial contamination.

The waived notice applies to any customer who receives a water bill from the City of Wichita. This includes customers from Andover and Eastborough. The boil water advisory has also been lifted for Corn residents who receive water from Wichita.
