Classic Everquest Server is going to party like in 1999-2001

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this effort – and somehow the 20th anniversary of the release of the original game – some very passionate Everquest Fans have revealed ambitious plans to allow players to relive the game's release process (including extensions).

The team behind Project 1999, already launches a server recreating vanilla Everquest experience, announced the release next month of Project 1999: green:

Project 1999 Green is a new PVE server with no patches or extensions enabled during publishing. Old style mechanisms and drops will be activated, including legacy items such as Guise of the Deceiver and Manastone. The server will then progress in all patches of the same timeline as the original Everquest launch, until Velious's last patch.

The server will be available from October 2019 and meets the criteria of Everquest original calendar, January 2020 will see the publication of Plan of fear, November 2020 Ruins of Kunark, etc., until July 2021, when Scars of Velious will be published.

It's such a great idea that I do not even know where to start. Let the fans play through all of this, that's fine like that, but bring everyone aboard the fashionable train and then by making them live in real time, is something else. I hope it's more fun to play than the official attempt to do something similar.
