Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is the pre-season team of the Associated Press in America, and has two Tigers teammates in the standings with him in the first team.

Lawrence, the first rookie to lead the club for more than 30 years, was joined by Clemson trader Clemson in the list unveiled Tuesday and presented by Regions Bank. Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons was part of the first defense team. Clemson and Alabama, No. 2, tied for the most selections with three.

Outback receiver Jerry Jeudy, an American last season, was selected in the pre-season's premier team, along with defensive lineman Raekwon Davis and linebacker Dylan Moses.

The quarterback of Alabama, Tua Tagovailoa, finalist of the Heisman Trophy, was selected for the second team.

Led by Alabama, the Southeast Conference placed eight players in the first team, one more than the Big Ten.

The AP All-America team is sponsored by Regions Bank this season, the first time the venerable Honor Roll dating back to 1925 has a main sponsor.
