While the Cleveland Browns (hopefully) go about business with the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11, there are other games that deserve attention in the post-season derby of the AFC. The Browns are battling with several other teams for those precious playoff spots, something Cleveland hasn’t seen in nearly 20 years.
Here’s what to watch on the scoreboard updates throughout Sunday’s game as you watch the Browns 6-3 take on the Eagles 3-5-1.
Tennessee Titans at the Baltimore Ravens
It’s huge for the Browns. Baltimore and Tennessee are 6-3, which means the loser here is behind the Browns. The Titans have lost three of four since the start 5-0. The Ravens have lost two of the three and it could be a trick game for the home side; Baltimore travels to Pittsburgh on Thursday to face the first-place Steelers in what could be the most heated rivalry game of the year.
The Browns still have a chance against the Ravens in Week 14, but they also draw at Tennessee a week earlier. Cleveland is a bit better suited to the Ravens than the Titans, so seeing Baltimore win this one isn’t bad news.
Miami Dolphins at Denver Broncos
The Broncos are hanging on to life at 3-6, but their vitality could help the Browns considerably. Miami has won five in a row and is playing excellent defense under head coach Brian Flores. At 6-3, Miami is tied with the Browns, but owns conference tiebreakers across the board. A victory in Denver, suspending an AFC loss in Miami, would be a huge break for Cleveland.
New England Patriots at Houston Texans
Houston is 2-8 and only beat Jacksonville in 2020, but they could still have an impact on the Browns. The Patriots are 4-5 and are looking to get back into the mix. Houston can simultaneously hold back the Patriots’ progress and give the Browns a nice little bump in the strength of the AFC schedule, as the Browns own the head-to-head victory over the Texans in Week 10.
Kansas City Chiefs to Las Vegas Raiders
Sunday night’s game features two teams above the Browns in the standings. The best result for Cleveland is that the Chiefs bombard the Raiders and bring the hosts down to 6-4. The Raiders won the first meeting between these two teams. It’s hard to see Kansas City drop 8-1 from either of the AFC’s top two seeds, so a clear win that increases some negatives on the Raiders’ AFC differential tally is the best possible way for that. this one takes place.
Green Bay Packers at Indianapolis Colts
Green Bay is 7-2 and controls NFC North, and they have a chance to help the Browns by knocking down the Colts 6-3. In general, NFC teams beating AFC teams are always good for the Browns and their postseason jockey.
