BEREA, Ohio – Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield plays with a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder, a source confirmed to ESPN on Thursday.

Mayfield injured his non-pitching shoulder on September 19 while attempting to tackle the Houston Texans, and is wearing from a harness.

Mayfield is arguably coming off his worst game in nearly a year. He completed just 15 of 33 passes for 155 yards in Cleveland’s 14-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Still, Mayfield downplayed both the injury and the harness, saying they “shouldn’t” affect his throws.

“I really don’t think it’s that complicated,” Mayfield said of his performance against the Vikings. “Everyone will try to find an excuse. I almost found it after the game, I just have to play the damn game. It’s that easy.”

Mayfield, who finished in the top 10 in QBR last season, is 26th in QBR so far this season with a score of 39.8.

The Browns, who have won three in a row, move to play against the Los Angeles Chargers this weekend.

The NFL Network first reported the severity of Mayfield’s injury.
