We’ve made it through the first quarter at US Bank Stadium, and your Minnesota Vikings lead the Cleveland Browns by a score of 7-0.
The Browns won the toss and chose to rely on the second half, meaning Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook and the Vikings offense got the football first. The Vikings put together a great practice, mixing up Cook with a series of pretty Cousins throws to push to a play of fourth and 1 from the Cleveland 9-yard line. CJ Ham converted the first down to make it a goal-to-go situation, and a pass from Cousins to Justin Jefferson was taken off the board because Cousins had crossed the line of scrimmage before throwing the ball. A few plays later, however, Cousins reunited with Jefferson, and he scored 12 yards. Greg Joseph scored the extra point and after a push that took half of the first quarter, the Vikings had a 7-0 lead.
Cleveland then recovered the ball and had a long and impressive practice. The Browns have converted several third downs on the drive, both in the air and on the ground, and as we move into the second quarter, the Browns are eyeing a 3rd and 4th from the Minnesota 6-yard line. Each team only had one possession in the first quarter.
