CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Clinic is inundated with people asking for COVID-19 testing due to the proliferation of delta variant cases raging statewide, and it advises Ohioans how they can get tested beyond the simple presentation to an emergency room or emergency care location.
“We have seen an increasing volume of patients requesting COVID-19 testing in our emergency, emergency care and express care departments,” the clinic said. “We understand that with the increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses occurring in our community, people want to be tested.”
Cleveland Clinic asks you to consider the following options regarding testing:
- If you or a loved one has non-urgent symptoms of COVID-19 and have a primary care provider at the Cleveland Clinic, you can make an appointment for a test online in MyChart without seeing a provider.
- If you or a loved one has non-urgent symptoms of COVID-19 and you DO NOT have a primary care physician at the Cleveland Clinic and would like to be tested through the Cleveland Clinic, please schedule a visit virtual online to see a provider who can order a test for you.
- If you have no symptoms but still wish to be tested for COVID-19 through the Cleveland Clinic, please schedule a testing appointment yourself through MyChart.
- The Cleveland Clinic is one of many places in the community where testing is done. In addition to testing sites, Ohio State self-test kits are available for free at local libraries and for sale at most retail pharmacies.
- If your COVID-19 symptoms are severe, the emergency department is available 24 hours a day for patients who require immediate care.
“These testing options are crucial to ensuring that our emergency services, emergency care and express care can provide prompt treatment to patients with critical needs. We are currently experiencing a high volume of patients in our facilities, so wait times for those with minor symptoms may be longer. than average, ”the clinic said.

According to the Ohio Department of Health, 49,369 tests were performed on Tuesday, the last day that ODH data was available. Of these tests, 12.5% were positive, compared to the 7-day rolling average positivity rate of 13.7%. Current levels are tens of thousands of tests higher than they were just two months ago.
