Cleveland Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez leaves Royals match with right wrist injury

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Jose Ramirez winced in pain after missing a shot in the first inning and finally ended the Cleveland Indians game against Kansas City on Saturday at Progressive Field.

Ramirez bought a fast 150km / h with Eric Skoglund, the Royals starter, 2-0 with two outs. He moved away from the batter's box and turned back painfully, concentrating on his right hand.

The Indians, sports coach James Quinlan and manager Terry Francona stepped out of the dugout canoe to examine Ramirez before finally leaving the field with the All-Star third baseman twice. Mike Freeman replaced Ramirez and completed the attack by taking a walk from Skoglund.

The Indians announced that Ramirez had been removed from play with "right wrist discomfort".

Ramirez came into play with 17 extra-base hits in August, tied with last month's Rafael Devers of Boston. His 35 extra-base wins since the beginning of July were the second highest among majors behind Devers (39).

After taking a slow start to the plate, Ramirez was strong since the end of June. He averaged .325 batting with 21 doubles, a pair of triples, 15 home runs and 47 RBIs with 1,045 OPS in his last 52 games.

Ramirez is one of the stolen clubs that is the tenth-ranked Indian history player with more than 30 seasons and at least 25 flights, and the first since Grady Sizemore in 2007-08.

If Ramirez is forced to be on the 10-day casualty list, an option to take his place on the 25-man squad is Columbus Clippers' infielder Yu Chang. The 24-year-old prospect spent three days with the Indians at the end of June, while Ramirez was on the MLB's paternity list.

Chang, who spent more than a month on the IL in Columbus with a sprained finger, hits .254 with nine homers, 39 RBIs and a .751 in 67 games for the Clippers.
