Closest we’ll ever have to a CM Punk / Stone Cold Steve Austin feud

For a brief magical moment in 2011, it looked like we could see a program between two of the best microphones in wrestling history.

CM Punk was about to drop the bombshell, but even before this groundbreaking promo he was one of WWE’s hottest acts. Stone Cold Steve Austin was with the company as the host and head coach of Pretty hard. At a few 50s, a one-time comeback or even a part-time performing contract still seemed like something the Hall of Fame could do.

We had a tense tease behind the scenes …

But no matter how much we read on Punk wearing Austin’s product for his famous promo two weeks later, the June 13 meeting was as close as we got.

Until now! Sort of …

The Straight Edged One playfully answered a question about how a game with Austin would have gone during a question-and-answer session on Twitter last week. The Texas Rattlesnake saw this and offered their own take on booking a Punk / Austin dream game. The Chicagoan was unfazed …

I said, “I REALLY WISH YOU WORKED MORE TOGETHER.”

Oh, he wasn’t “what”? It doesn’t matter. I will be fantastic here to book the feud which has both Stone Cold quasi-Broadway and Punk squash.
