Clubhouse announces its intention to start working on an Android app

If you do frequent rounds on Twitter, there’s a good chance you’ve noticed people asking for Clubhouse invites. The audio-only social media app has gained a lot of popularity lately and has managed to create a lot of hype around its invite-only model. Another factor that adds to this is its limited availability to only iOS users. In the wake of a new round of funding, the creators of the app have now confirmed that they will finally be working on an Android edition.

It’s not clear when we can expect it to arrive, but the developers say work on the app will start “soon”. Along with Android support, the team also confirmed that work is underway to add more accessibility and location features. Monetization for creators is also underway and Clubhouse plans to test it through features like tips, tickets and memberships.

If you’re unfamiliar with Clubhouse, it’s an audio-only social platform that lets you jump into chat rooms and talk to other people or just listen to the ongoing conversation. Twitter is also working on a similar concept, with that experience built right into the existing app.
