After more than seven years out of wrestling, CM Punk is reportedly in talks to return to professional wrestling as a performer in the ring.
According to Fighter (h / t Joshua Gagnon of WrestlingInc.com), Punk is reportedly speaking with officials at AEW, although no contract has been signed and nothing is set in stone as to when or when. way he would come back.
Fightful added that AEW is seen as the “most likely landing point,” with some senior WWE officers believing that Punk will eventually sign with AEW.
There has been a lot of speculation about Punk returning to the ring since his last game, which was the 2014 Royal Rumble.
Despite that, nothing ever came to fruition, other than punk who tried his hand in the UFC. The ill-fated effort lasted only two fights, and Punk has focused on acting, MMA announcements, and other endeavors since.

Although the show was canceled last year, it marked Punk’s biggest foray into wrestling since he left, as he provided his review of the WWE product. While the show was about WWE, Punk’s contract was with Fox.
Punk has spoken about the possibility of returning to wrestling in the past, and while he never completely dismissed the idea, he also didn’t push for it.
Appearing on Oral sessions with Renee Paquette in December (h / t Felix Upton of Ringside News), Punk was asked about returning to WWE or signing with AEW, and he said he thought there were “more people. interesting “for him to struggle in AEW.
That, coupled with the fact that he hasn’t left WWE on good terms, might lend some validity to the idea that AEW is his most likely landing point if he wants to wrestle again.
Fightful noted that other wrestling companies have shown interest in punk as well. He has experience with both Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling, and it is conceivable that he could be interested in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
Ultimately, WWE and AEW are the two biggest promotions in wrestling right now, and conventional wisdom suggests that Punk will end up with one of them if he wrestles again.
The 42-year-old is a former five-time WWE World Champion and one of the biggest stars in the business for the past two decades, and his signing would likely be AEW’s biggest move to date.
