The debate will bring the group of Democratic candidates in Michigan, which President Donald Trump won in 2016.

The debate will take place over two days because the field is too big to fit on a stage. The National Democratic Committee will randomly select the candidate who will meet each day. Up to 10 candidates will be on the stage each night. Thus, if there are more than 20 Democrats in the running, those who have not yet reached the threshold required for a fundraiser or a popular ballot will be excluded from the debate.
According to the guidelines of the debate, candidates "may participate in the debate by registering at least 1% of the votes in three separate ballots (either national ballots or polls of the voters of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and / or Nevada) published publicly between January 1, 2019, and 14 days before the date of the debate, "with" eligible polls "from a list approved by the DNC. This list includes Associated Press, ABC News, CBS News, CNN, Des Moines Register, Fox News, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Monmouth University, NBC News, New York Times, NPR, Quinnipiac University, Reuters, University of New Hampshire, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Post and Winthrop University.
The three polls used by the candidates to qualify for the debate must come from three different organizations, or from the same organization, but from different geographical areas.
In addition to the voting criteria, applicants may be eligible if they have received campaign contributions from at least 65,000 unique donors and at least 200 unique donors per state in at least 20 states. US.
