CNN announced this week that it had recently fired three of its employees, all for the same reason: to enter the offices of the cable news network without being vaccinated.ment, in contempt of society Strategies. By VarietyPresident Jeff Zucker issued a memo to staff today reminding them of the company’s “zero tolerance policy” on mandatory vaccinations for those who choose to visit company offices. In the same memo, Zucker noted that the company is moving away from a plan to get employees back to the office full-time on September 7.

“Last week,” Zucker wrote to network staff,

WWe have been informed that three employees are entering the office without being vaccinated. All three were made redundant. Let’s be clear: we have a zero tolerance policy on this. You must be vaccinated to come to the office. And you need to be vaccinated to work in the field, along with other employees, whether or not you walk into an office. Period.

News of CNN’s layoffs comes soon after Netflix created that it would oblige employees to be vaccinated, both on the sets of its various productions, as well as in its offices, while other entertainment companies also have started to follow suit. (Meanwhile, a number of stars, including Sean Penn and Sharon stone, started making headlines demanding vaccinated sets.). CNN’s move can be seen as quite a significant escalation, however, as it is one of the first entities in the entertainment industry to fire employees for violating these mandates.

Here’s Zucker again:

I think it’s fair to say that we all feel a mixture of anticipation, anxiety, frustration, confusion and exasperation. All of this is to be expected. We have all made decisions that impact so many aspects of our lives. I understand. At the very least, the resilience and persistence that you have all demonstrated over the past 18 months must now carry on a little longer.
