CNN sacks three workers for coming to work without getting vaccinated

Three CNN employees were fired for going to a company office without being vaccinated, the media company’s CEO said in a note that was leaked Thursday.

In an email to staff members regarding the return to work in person, Jeff Zucker warned that the company has a “zero tolerance policy” to allow the return of people who did not receive the shots, according to Deadline.

“Until now, we have left the proof of vaccination to an honor system. Although we have requested proof of your status via Passcard, it has not been mandatory to produce a vaccination card,” wrote Zucker.

“Over the past week we learned of three employees who came to the office unvaccinated. All three were fired. Let’s be clear – we have a zero tolerance policy on this.”

The email continues, “You need to be vaccinated to work in the field, along with other employees, whether or not you walk into an office. Full stop. We expect that in the coming weeks, proof of vaccination will become. a formal part of the WarnerMedia Passcard process. Either way, our expectations remain in place. “

The news station will also postpone a scheduled return date from its offices from September 7 to mid-October, but the big names “are reluctant to give a specific date,” Zucker wrote in the note.

Employees are currently allowed to work in the office on a voluntary basis – with face masks required in workspaces in Los Angeles, Washington DC and Atlanta, the memo said.
