The event will be hosted by Anderson Cooper and will air on May 9 at 8 pm, according to CNN.

Trump was fired from Comey on May 9, 2017, citing the management of the investigation of the former FBI director on the former Democratic presidential candidate. The shooting was an "episode" questioned by Mueller as part of his investigation into whether Trump was obstructing justice.

Mueller did not conclude that Trump had obstructed nor exonerated him about it. Attorney General William Barr said at a press conference in anticipation of the release of Mueller's report that he and the outgoing deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein determined that there was not enough evidence to establish such charges.

Comey has often criticized Trump since his dismissal. On Wednesday, he wrote an editorial in the New York Times in which it was written that Trump's "amoral" leadership revealed Barr's "character".

"Trump eats your soul in small bites," he writes.

Comey sparked negative reactions in 2016 when he announced, less than two weeks before the presidential election, that the FBI was investigating more emails that could be linked to Clinton's private server. Clinton later said that she thought the move had cost him the presidency.

Comey was director of the FBI from July 2013 until his ouster in May 2017.
