Coaches who could join Tennessee staff next season

Tennessee (2-4, 2-4 SEC) will host Texas A&M (5-1, 5-1 SEC) on Saturday at Neyland Stadium (3:30 p.m. EST).

The Vols are looking to end a four-game losing streak after opening the 2020 campaign with wins in South Carolina and against Missouri.

With four competitions remaining in a 10-game regular season schedule reserved for the SEC, the Coaching Carousel will begin to take place. Jeremy Pruitt has made changes to his staff after every season he’s been head coach of Tennessee for the past three years.

Staff changes are part of the business and can help strengthen a program from a coaching, development and recruiting perspective.

Wire Flights has already marked the end of contracts for athletics director Phillip Fulmer, Pruitt and the nine Tennessee field assistants. The NCAA allows ten assistants on the field as Pruitt fills a vacant defensive line coach position after relieving Jimmy Brumbaugh of his duties after a Week 4 loss to Kentucky.

Offensive line coach Will Friend, wide receivers coach Tee Martin and inside linebackers coach Brian Niedermeyer are signed until Jan.31, 2021.

With three coaches expected to have contracts expiring after the season and a vacant defensive line position to fill, Vols Wire is looking at potential candidates who could join Pruitt’s staff in 2021.
