The Los Angeles Dodgers, perpetually looking for depth for their star-studded rotation, have agreed to a deal with quadruple All-Star Cole Hamels, sources confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.
Hamels, who auditioned for teams in a training session last month in Texas, took his physical exam on Wednesday morning. The Dodgers will guarantee him $ 1 million prorated for the remainder of the season and add $ 200,000 in incentives for each start, a source told ESPN’s Buster Olney.
Hamels, a San Diego product, was limited to one start with the Atlanta Braves last season due to shoulder and tricep injuries and has spent the vast majority of that year regaining his health.
